The violence, terrorism and disease that’s going on in the world today, is fear-inducing. People are asking, “What are we to do?” But we must remember our authority as a believer. Jesus’ words about our authority are still true:
Luke 10:19 says, Now you understand that I have imparted to you My authority to trample over Satan’s kingdom. You will trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will harm you as you walk in this authority.
The kingdom of darkness must always bow to the kingdom of God’s eternal light. Darkness will bow when we exercise the authority Jesus gave us. That’s the part that is up to us. James 4:7 tells us that when we resist the devil, he must flee from us—but the resisting part is our job.
We are to stand our ground and not allow darkness to be what reigns supreme in any area of our lives. We’re the ones with the authority and it’s over the devil.
