The Truth of the Birth

First John 3 tells us the true meaning behind the birth of Jesus.

1 John 3:8 "...the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

The word destroy in this verse is translated from the Greek word luo, which means "to loose, dissolve, sever, break, demolish."

Also, Acts 10:38 says, "...God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him."

So, Jesus was born and anointed to loosen and break the chain of sin and death from around the lives of God's people.
