The Choice to be Happy Part 4

Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made;                                        We will rejoice and be glad in it.

When David wrote this Psalm he was running for his life from King Saul. He was surrounded by the King’s army but what did he say? This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it.

His circumstances said, “You should be afraid, discouraged, and lonely. But he said in faith – This is the day! Despite what’s going on I will be happy no matter how bad it looks.”

There’re all kinds of things, situations and people to upset us for the day, the month or even the year. But all we have to do is say, NO! I refuse to let these things rob me of the joy God gave me.

We just make the choice: I will be happy, I will live today happy. Your will is more powerful than how you feel.

David didn’t feel happy when he wrote Psalm 118, but he declared: I will rejoice. Don’t wait to be happy before we choose to be happy. We make the choice first, then happiness will come.

Choose to speak it out in faith, “I am happy, and I will enjoy my day. I will focus on God’s goodness.”
