The spirit of joy isn’t based on outward appearances, feelings, or circumstances. It’s based on you, it’s your choice, on whether you allow it to work. It’s ready and available for use at any time.

Sometimes it’s hard to yield to joy. When things are tough, you don’t have the money to pay bills, just lost your job, a loved one passes, or you just don’t know what to do.

Your flesh just wants to wallow in it. It wants to be sad, mad, hurt, and offended but that will never be any benefit to you. You will only go deeper in those things, and they will turn to bitterness in your heart.

I’ve known people that were hurt and offended years ago and when I talk to them today, they are just the same (hurt and offended).

Joy is our force, our weapon against problems like these. The joy of the Lord has the ability to encourage you and strengthen you on the inside. If we choose to use it, it will move anything out of our way.
