Responsibility to Vote

In 1801, a man named Mathias Burnet spoke to the legislature in Connecticut. After he finished speaking to the entire state government assembled, he looked up in the balcony to all the citizens who had just voted these guys into office and he said, “To God and posterity, you’re accountable for your rights and your rulers. … Let not your children have reason to curse you for giving up those rights and prostrating those institutions which your fathers delivered to you.”

You and I didn’t ask to be born in America, but God put us here. He’s trusted us with this nation and this government and told us to take care of it until He returns. We will answer to Him for how it turned out for us and our posterity (unborn generations yet to come).

We have the right to vote. Whether it’s a vote for city council, the mayor, or the President of the United States, let’s be godly stewards of what God has given us. Vote for the candidates you believe will uphold the pillars of religion and morality in America. That is how we will stay strong as a nation.
