The New Year is upon us, 2025. Take this year and be refreshed, renewed and restored with the word and praises of God.
Psalm 103:1 says, “Bless the Lord, oh my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!”
David calls on all the faculties and powers of his being to unite in the praise of God. He stirs himself to worship God for the many mercies He has shown him and the gratefulness of God in his life.
Psalm 103:2 says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits.”
He repeats the same phrase in verse 2, which means it’s important to bless the Lord at all times. The second part of verse 2, forget not all His benefits; not any of them; the least and the largest. Remember what God has done for you, show your gratitude and thankfulness to Him every day and be refreshed by them.
Psalm 103: 3 says, “Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,”
God has forgiven all our sins, and we are restored to the favor of God. He gives us all good things to enjoy. Among the greatest blessings which we receive of God is healing from sickness and disease. He forgives and He heals. Hallelujah!
Psalm 103:4 says, “Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,”
God saves us from death or injury when in danger, or when attacked by the enemy. God is the source of all our blessings, and there is honor, in the gift of a crown on anyone. His love, compassion and mercies never fail; they're new every day.
Psalm 103:5 says, “Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
It’s the favor and grace of God that can give satisfaction to anyone, supplies all his needs, and answers all his desires. He has given us a pledge of long life: “Thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” The eagle has a long life, and when it reaches almost 100 years old, casts off all the feathers and fresh ones come, so that it becomes young again. David in old age became like the strength of the eagle. He was sustained by the goodness of God in his old age and became young again. God has renewed our strength as an eagle.
Focus on being refreshed, renewed and restored this year and we will have the best year we’ve ever had.
