Hebrews 2:14 says, Since we, the children, are all creatures of flesh and blood, Jesus took on flesh and blood, so that by dying He could destroy the one who held power over death—the devil—

Jesus destroyed the devil for us.  His victory over him was in our stead. So Christ’s victory is our victory.

The Supreme Court of the Universe looks upon the work of Jesus as though it were ours. God sees Jesus as our perfect Redeemer and us as perfectly redeemed.  He sees us doing the works of Jesus and conquerors over all the forces of darkness.

Jesus stripped the devil of his authority in hell. He entered the home of the strong man and conquered him, defeated him, broke his dominion over us.

Jesus has given us the power.  He is our ability; our sufficiency; our strength; our might and we have on the armor of God.

The devil has no right to reign over us any more than he has a right to reign over Jesus because he is defeated.
